Frank Sinatra's "Fly Me to the Moon"

The original title of "Fly Me to the Moon" was "In Other Words," and Kaye Ballard was the first artist to record the song. It was written by Bart Howard in 1954.

The Frank Sinatra "Fly Me to the Moon" first appeared on the 1964 album It Might As Well Be Swing, produced by Quincy Jones and recorded with the Count Basie orchestra. Jones, Basie and Sinatra changed the timing of the song, speeding it up and jazzing it up a bit, and creating what became the signature sound of this particular song.

"Fly Me to the Moon" Lyrics
Fly me to the moon
Let me play amoung the stars
Let me see what Spring is like
On Jupiter and Mars

In other words, hold my hand
In other words, baby kiss me

Fill my heart with song and
Let me sing forever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore

In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you

Fill my heart with song and
Let me sing forever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore

In other words, please be true
In other words
In other words, I love you
